Annual State of the Community Forum & Luncheon slated for March 4 at Nash Community College Business & Industry Center

Chamber Chairman Bill Boddie has announced plans to hold the ninth annual State of the Community Forum & Luncheon on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at Nash Community College Business & Industry Center - Brown Auditorium

The Forum, an annual snapshot of the state of our area, will convene promptly at 11:00 a.m. with panel presentations from a host of community partners on such topics as quality of life, economic development and educational initiatives already in place or on the horizon. Panelists include: The Honorable David Combs, Mayor, City of Rocky Mount; Larry Chewning, Nash Health Care Systems; Chief John Manley, Rocky Mount Police Department; Ginny Mohrbutter, Rocky Mount Area United Way; Joyce Dickens, Rocky Mount-Edgecombe CDC; John Gessaman, Carolinas Gateway Partnership; Ian Kipp, Downtown Rocky Mount; Michael Goodmon, Rocky Mount Mills; Tom Rogers, Chamber Education Vice-Chair; Henrietta Zalkind, Downeast Partnership for Children; and Rev. James Gailliard, Word Tabernacle Church.

According to Boddie, "Those in attendance will have an opportunity to hear from the leadership in our community and to become informed about the current status of special projects as well as the future plans for progressive growth in the Twin County area. This is also an opportunity to learn first-hand about ways in which our local individuals and entities partner on community and public projects."

The Forum presentations will conclude at 12:15 p.m. and will be followed immediately by the Luncheon, with keynote speaker Phil Dow, Director Equity Strategy at RBC Dain Raucsher - a wholly-owned subsidiary of Royal Bank of Canada, the 8th largest full-service securities firm in the U.S.

Phil Dow is author of The Citizen Investor and has incorporated 30 years of expertise in the securities business into this book. As RBC Dain Rauscher's Chief Markets spokesperson, Dow frequently serves as a commentator on CNBC-TV, Fox News, and Bloomberg TV, and is often quoted in publications including The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal.
