Chamber Business Expo Set for October 11 at Nash Community College

Wachovia's Economist to Keynote Expo Luncheon

The Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce, along with Premier Sponsor Progress Energy and Host Sponsor Nash Community College, are pleased to announce that the 19th Annual Business Expo plans are set and will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2007, from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Area companies will converge on Nash Community College's Business and Industry Center, Brown Auditorium and surrounding outside areas of the campus complex to showcase products and services available in the community.

The 2007 Expo will showcase small and large companies as well as established and newer companies; and the Expo will also feature a popular seminar within the event given by Larry McAdams, Construction Imaging Systems, to showcase the newest technologies and "cool gadgets" on the market. The seminar will be held in the Business and Industry Center 2nd floor classroom area and there is no fee to attend. The one-day trade show promises to again feature a great lineup of exhibitors, which represents a healthy and growing business environment for our area.

Mark Vitner, Wachovia Economist

The 2007 Expo Chairman, Mark Hinson, is a seasoned Expo exhibitor and commented, "This event has been fine-tuned over the past few years making it one of the best business opportunities to engage in and attend. It opens the door for area businesses to build strong relationships with current and new customers, sales representatives, and other influential people in the marketplace. I'm excited to Chair the 2007 Expo and look forward to seeing many of our businesses on event day."

Chamber Chairman Russell Proctor further noted, "Your Chamber has worked hard making this Signature business event a valuable marketing tool for area companies - an environment that is conducive to business growth. The Expo will be a great day for both exhibitors and attendees alike."

William Bobbitt, Expo Sales Manager, is pleased to have over twenty exhibitors showing their automobiles, boats, golf carts, recreational vehicles, ATVs, food vendors, and many other products and services at the outside entrance to the building. According to Bobbitt, "Ninety percent of these vendors are returning from past years and are excited to once again be a part of such an exclusive event. We have already had great success selling exhibit space on the outside, adjacent to the auditorium. Since college students will be on fall break, plenty of parking will be available on site."

In addition to the daylong show, two other special events will take place as part of the program. The popular Expo Luncheon and Symposium will be held at 12:00 noon adjacent to the Brown Auditorium and will feature Wachovia Corporation's senior economist, Mark Vitner, who will be speaking to the Economic Outlook and Regional Economic Review. Mark is responsible for tracking U.S. and regional economic trends. Vitner writes Wachovia's Monthly Economic Outlook newsletter and the Regional Economic Review, is a frequent guest on CNBC, CNN and the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer and has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, USA Today and many other publications. Luncheon tickets are $10 each and seating is reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.

The traditional Expo Business After Hours is scheduled from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. and will feature live entertainment by local band SpeakEasy Unplugged…The Bunn Brothers with their acoustic set. Expo raffle prize drawings will be held at 7:30 p.m.

All of these details are organized to help businesses increase sales...and decrease marketing costs, gaining exposure for products, resources and services to several thousand people - all in one day.
