The Imperial Centre for the Arts & Sciences is home to the Rocky Mount Arts Center and the Children's Museum & Science Center. Located at 210 Gay Street in downtown Rocky Mount, the former tobacco factory is a model project of historic preservation.
The Arts Center, which recently celebrated its fiftieth anniversary, features 10 art galeries, a museum shop, and the Playhouse Community Theater. The Arts Center also includes an arts education building, where area residents can learn a new artistic skill, such as pottery, painting, dance, and many other areas of interest.

The Rocky Mount Sports Complex |

The Rocky Mount Sports Complex is located at the site of the former municipal airport, at 600 Independence Drive. The complex features six youth playing fields, four softball fields, & a championship baseball field. While the facility hosts local league play during the week, the complex hosts tournaments on weekends. The Outdoor Recreation Division includes some of the most popular facilities and programs in Rocky Mount, including public swimming pools and group conoeing on the Tar River. This division also includes the 25-acre Sunset Park and the Tar River Trail, which offers three miles of scenic surroundings for pedestrians and cyclists. |
