Eastern NC Medical Group Named December Small Business of the Month

Eastern North Carolina Medical Group, led by senior physician and manager, Daniel L. Crocker, M.D., opened to service our community's health care needs on May 15, 2000. At inception, the practice consisted of three physicians in its Rocky Mount location. Since then, the practice has expanded to nine physicians, ten physician assistants, and one family practitioner.

Initially, the Group only occupied rental space belonging to Nash Health Care Systems at the LifeCare Hospital location. In December 2003, outpatient and inpatient hematology / oncology services began in Louisburg at Franklin Regional Medical Center. In 2004, the Group opened three primary care sites: Zebulon in April 2004; Nashville in August 2004; and Millbranch in South Rocky Mount in October 2004. In January 2010, Eastern North Carolina Medical Group will open a fourth office location in Wilson.

In addition to an active outpatient practice, the Group cares for a large number of hospitalized patients at Nash Health Care, Bryant T. Aldridge Rehabilitation Center, Coastal Plain Hospital, and at LifeCare Hospital where Dr. Crocker serves as Medical Director. The providers at the Group also service patients in nine nursing homes and five rest homes / assisted living facilities in the area. Other service sites include Wesleyan College Infirmary, the Nash County Wellness Program, Nash County Health Department, and the Nash County Jail, for which Dr. Crocker serves as Medical Director as well.

Medicare certified laboratory services are available at each practice site, as is state-of-the-art digital radiography, which allows images to be transmitted electronically for immediate interpretation. CT Scanning and nuclear cardiac imaging are available at the Nashville office. Other ancillary services include electrocardiograms, echocardiography, bone densitometry, flexible sigmoidoscopy, electrovideonystagmography and ultrasonography of carotid arteries, abdomen, and the lower extremity venous system. The Group provides a comfortable oncology suite for the administration of chemotherapy and intravenous hydration. They also provide foreign travel consultation and vaccines for foreign travel at the practice.

2010 will be another active year for Eastern North Carolina Medical Group as an affiliation with the Hear Center at ECU will bring cardiology services on site.

The Group employs 100 full-time and 7 part-time employees and focuses on comfort and convenience for patients. The actively support over 24 local, regional, state, and national organizations or foundations and are highly involved in community activities, some of which include: Relay for Life in Nash & Franklin counties, the Boys Scouts of America, My Sister's House, the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, Tar River Orchestra and Chorus, and many more educational, civic and medical entities.

Congratulations to Dr. Crocker and his staff on this well-deserved recognition.
